Local Girl

The first donation for this project came from the Triad Foundation. After that, many friends of Yachaqui Wayi have participated in funding this project.  We thank all our donors very much for their support, and their understanding of the importance of developing a more sustainable tourism which has positive impacts on local economy, environment and culture. On this page you see pictures of some of the people that we work with. In the near future we will incorporate more sustainable community tourism projects to broaden our area of influence.

The Mountain Institute also supported Yachaqu Wayi Center and Association, with institutional funds that help the regular operations of YW. In 2006, TMI and Dutch YW volunteers got an award at the Business in Development Challenge, BiD Challenge, that made it possible to establish the YW at its new location and promote it.

Needed Items

We still need a lot of books and magazines that would be interesting for our Educational Room library.  Any literature about travel, ecology, culture, and development would be greatly appreciated.

Any items that could make our center more comfortable to visitors such as pillows, furniture, lights, or anything else you can think of would be wonderful donations.

If you have photographs of your stay in one of our Community-Based Tourism projects we would love to share them with others.  Large, framed photographs are guaranteed to find a place on our walls.

And always donations in the form of money are extremely valuable.  For any questions, please send us an email. Thank you very much!
